The artist, A. Lebowski, enters into a correspondence with a personal column advertiser in order to find a visual metaphor that represents them.
Once it is clear what the subject wants and why, Lebowski creates a painting based on their letters. Upon completion, the subject
receives a full-sized color reproduction as a gift for their participation. With their comments, the correspondence ends.
Lebowski's intent is to portray one person from each State in the Union in order to create a composite portrait of turn of the millennium United States.
